| After a derailment near Thurman halted passenger excursions for the week, Illinois Central painted E8 #515 sits dormant outside the station in North Creek. During my brief visit here, I learned that it was from this station in 1901 that Theodore Roosevelt boarded a train to journey towards Buffalo, where President McKinley had been assassinated. Unexpected surprise that kept this presidential history buff happy even without running trains. |
