| Backing down a 50's era branch line past one of four active industries still served by rail, the Third La Mirada switch heads West towards the San Diego Sub. Spurs once extended off the branch every several hundred feet from this location. Now all the industries have been razed in favor of commercial development and the only hint of the past is the slight hump in the road and curb cuts where the tracks once were. Also gone is the caboose which used to be a staple on this job. Now, the conductor rides rungs on the first car when shoving back. |
