On the 26th June 2013 the PPC (Pretoria Portland Cement) factory at Slurry, 20km east of Mafikeng, celebrated its 100th year of production. The factory is linked by rail to the Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) exchange yard at Slurry station. Two Union Carriage & Wagon (UCW) Atlas class 0-6-0 diesel hydraulics are used to move traffic between the yard and the plant. PPC No.2 is seen hauling TFR “pepper pot” cement wagons out of the exchange yard to the factory.
