In July 1983, the Union Pacific repainted a pair of Western Pacific F7s at North Platte for donation to railroad museums. The WP 917 went to the Bay Area Electric Railroad Association for display at Western Railway Museum at Rio Vista Junction, CA while the WP 921 went to the Greater Portola Area Chamber of Commerce for display at Feather River Rail Society, Portola, CA. The stylish duo, built by EMD in 1950, are pictured on a service track at UP's North Yard shops in Salt Lake City on July 26, 1983.
