Remarks & Notes

As part of the San Luis Central’s 100 year anniversary celebrations, the railroad operated a short freight for photographers out of Monte Vista north to County Road 4N. The railroad’s first diesel locomotive, GE 70-ton No. 71 bought new in 1955, pulls four former Railway Express Agency reefers in the wide-open country of the San Luis Valley on September 1, 2013.
