Sitting on the Gettysburg & Northern Station Spur on September 28, 2013 was the Amtrak Exhibit Train making its stop in Gettysburg, PA. Among the consist was Amtrak 42, the specially painted General Electric diesel P42 locomotive honoring America's Military Veterans. Starting in 2011 as part of the railroads 40th anniversary, Amtrak began painting locomotives in previous "Heritage" schemes. The Veterans unit marks Amtrak's first venture outside it's own heritage. This side profile shot of the nose was taken after hours on railroad property with permission.
Generally speaking, shots where less than a full engine is shown. But I want to feature details, not half engines or full cabs, and definitely not full nose shots. Just shots where someone has zoomed in with purpose.
