Steve Lee's crew and volunteers are working away on the completion of the re-steaming of former Union Railroad/Morehead & North Fork 0-6-0 number 77. The boiler is mounted on an old Southern flatcar (itself an interesting rail artifact), and that's where most of the attention is directed at the moment. The tender, cab and running gear are mostly completed. This old shop building is where K&T number 12---better known as Southern 4501---was repaired and serviced for many years. It last ran here in 1963, when the K&T dieselized with secondhand Alco S2s from the Rio Grande. Today, this is the Big South Fork Scenic Railroad. In this shot, an unnamed volunteer is actually standing inside the steam dome, replacing the bolts that hold the top access cover.
