This heritage special train near Pukerua Bay is marking exactly 150 years of the opening of first public railway in New Zealand. The official KiwiRail supported and media covered events based at Christchurch in October were true to location but a little premature. DA 1431 was built in 1957 by General Motors/ Clyde in NSW Australia and in service with NZ Railways until 1988.
