BNSF Railway's four PR30C diesels can be hard to photograph, as they tend to work the railroad's inaccessible San Bernardino yard almost all the time. But, they do venture out at times, often to pick up or set out cars east of the yard. As the BNSF California Division Christmas Train returns from a round trip to Cajon Pass' Summit (in the mountains in the background), a pair of PR30Cs are on an adjacent track, right along Cajon Boulevard, picking up a cut of empty spine cars. BNSF 1323, still wearing the yellow and gray it wore as a Progress Rail demonstrator (on the Union Pacific) is teamed with 1320, which as been repainted into BNSF colors. The 1323 began life as Canadian Pacific SD40-2 5647, which was sold to PRLX, becoming their 5647 and, after rebuilding into a PR30C, was renumbered to PRLX 3005.
