The End of the Line: NJ Transit has been storing out of service equipment on a siding in Garwood, NJ along the Raritan Valley Line. It seems that some of this equipment is now being removed from storage for eventual disposition. One of these moves is seen here, as NJT 4216 and 4105 haul two GP40FH-2s dead-in-tow back to the MMC in Kearny. The units in question are 4138 and 4143. It seems vandals have already removed their number boards. These units are rumored to be sold for scrap. Ironically NJT 4105 has outlived many other units on NJT's roster, being delivered to the Jersey Central for commuter service in 1968 as CNJ 3679. The GP40FH-2s, by comparison, were rebuilt from various older GP40s and were added to NJT's fleet in 1987.
