Remarks & Notes |
Many relics remain along the old Baltimore mainline of the former Western Maryland Railway. These signal masts stand at the western leg of the Catoctin Horseshoe Curve near Sabillasville, MD. The heads were in place until at least 1998. Along the line you can find other masts like these and with signal heads still attached, mile posts and other artifacts that seem to have been left and forgotten about. MMID GP38-3 302 is running long hood forward leading a short UBHF (Union Bridge to Highfield) around the curve and up the near two percent grade towards Highfield on January 24, 2014. The engine is an ex B&O heritage EMD GP38 (3816) and rebuilt. G&W will renumber it to CORP 2062 when it is finished repaintied into G&W colors.. |
