On a icy January day, SY 1772 leads a passenger train across the Wang River Middle Bridge. This locomotive is one of the most historic steam locomotives in China, if not the world, as it was the LAST commercially built steam locomotive produced, rolling out of Tangshan Locomotive Works in October 1999. Just 15 years old, SY 1772 may be living on borrowed time, as the passenger traffic on the Tiefa Railway continues to be taken over by diesel locomotives.
