Remarks & Notes
The Empire Builder arrives into the Grand Forks station past the "West Grand Forks" station sign 11 hours, 41 minutes late greeted by passengers exclaiming their relief! The train originally lost time in Washington and gradually lost more throughout its journey east, including several minutes waiting at FO Switch (only meters away) for the switch to align from the Devils Lake subdivision to the Hillsboro subdivision.

This train, which runs between Chicago and Seattle and Portland, takes its name from James J. Hill, who founded the Great Northern Railroad and extended it from Minnesota to the Pacific Coast.
