Remarks & Notes
R.I.P. 403---DMIR 403 takes the switch at Iron Jct. off the CN Missabe Sub and onto the CN Iron Range Sub for the trip to Two Harbors with loads of taconite pellets from the U.S. Steel Minntac plant. As it turns out, this will most likely be my last shot of DMIR 403 as it was involved in a wreck yesterday (2/24) while leading a ore train along this very route near Fairbanks, MN. A route it's travel countless times in the years past. Reports indicate that it will likely be scrapped given it's age and possible structural damage. It had survived almost 10 years after the CN takeover in it's Missabe maroon paint. A true classic.
