On September 15, 2013, as an empty BNSF coal train passes through East Alliance, three coal loads wait their turn to head east. The middle coal load gets a flashing yellow and slowly proceeds east. Off in the distance are the headlights of another westbound, that are passing the DPU of another coal load. A busy afternoon on the Sand Hills Subdivision in Nebraska… Too many trains and not enough track—maybe what the guys trying to get track-and-time at the crossover are thinking too.
