Remarks & Notes
Southern 630 is eastbound through Weller Yard, passing loaded hoppers of coke from the Jewell Smokeless facility at Dismal, VA. N&W used its biggest steam power on the Buchanan Branch--the Y-class Mallet compounds--until late '59, so the 2-8-0 is a comparative light weight in the steam category (but, nonetheless, a welcome sight here).
