The southbound Denali Star slinks through the confines deep within Ft. Richardson about 40 minutes from its destination in Anchorage. Unbeknownst to me at the time and very close to where I took this photo, a female jogger had been mauled by a brown bear with cubs just a few hours beforehand. I did have my bear spray with me, but had I known about the attack, I sure as heck would have picked a different location to railfan!
