Remarks & Notes
"Shore Express"
The first run of the westbound Shore Express train with direct, one-seat service from New York Penn Station to Bay Head on the North Jersey Coast Line crosses the Raritan River on a beautiful summer morning. This service will operate Saturdays, Sundays and holidays through September 1st, with two outbound morning departures and two evening return trips to NY Penn Station. This train makes limited stops until reaching Asbury Park where it then makes all local stops to Bay Head. Most stations on the lower end of the line are within a mile or so of a beach. It will cross from electrified to non-electrified territory at Long Branch. With midday direct service to New York for Raritan Valley Line customers and now this weekend shore service, NJ Transit is slowy starting to use their "dual mode" ALP-45DPs for their intended purpose.
