Remarks & Notes 
As opposed to current operations in 2002 it was common for the UP to send the MNYPU south in the later afternoon. This made for some prime viewing as the train would crest the Palmer Divide in the late evening sun. In addition it was common for UP to power these freights with Rio Grande locomotives as seen here as the crest the grade at Palmer Lake under stormy skies. Scanned from a Fuji Sensia slide.
