K190 and K153 briefly pause side-by-side at Maldon during the Victorian Goldfields Railway's 'K Class Spectacular,' run in conjunction with a weekend Steamrail tour from Melbourne. All K class locos were painted completely black in service, however in the last decade of steam some locos unofficially received red buffer beams, to brighten up their appearance when used on fan trips. This being the case, both locos are arguably wearing a historically accurate livery!
