Following a sadly predictable pattern in Maine over the last several years, pulp mill Old Town Fuel & Fiber has been shut down indefinitely. This means the loss of 180 jobs as well as one of Pan Am Railways biggest customers on the east end of their system. Mill security were friendly, allowing access to the property for this shot, and cautiously optimistic that the mill would find a buyer and reopen relatively soon. Still, with no foul oder in the air, and no sign of smoke coming out of the stacks that could normally be seen from miles away, it's clear that times are tough in Old Town, Maine, as Pan Am train MABA 382 rolls through the mill with a trio of high hood GP40s.
