Remarks & Notes |
Quite possibly the most unusual railway operation in South Africa today - a former Australian locomotive (ex- Queensland Railways) now owned by a private South African operator (RRL Grindrod), hauling wagons owned by a gold mining company (Harmony Gold), running over state-owned tracks (Transnet Freight Rail). No. 1743 is on its way from Welkom to "OD" (Odendaalsrus) with empties for loading at Harmony's Tshepong mine. |
