It's a perfectly still warm Spring morning in Barnes, New South Wales, as R761 accelerates south towards Echuca - just across the Murray River in the state of Victoria. R761 and K153 traveled up from Melbourne for a weekend of local shuttles between Echuca and Barnes, to celebrate 150 years since the opening of the Echuca line. This is one of only a handful of Victorian broad gauge railway lines to extend into New South Wales, and this was the first time I'd photographed a VR steam loco outside its home state.
