Remarks & Notes
No matter where you are in Colorado, it seems like one can find reminders of the Rio Grande almost anywhere. Here in Parker an all steel cupola caboose that was built by the Rio Grande’s Burnham shops in Denver greets patients as they come to the local dentistry situated behind the caboose. This caboose is distinguishable by its use of riveting to construct the side sheathing and is one of seventy of this style caboose to be built like that by Burnham. Later units would be built with welded sides. Special thanks to my Aunty Dorthy for showing me the location of this caboose while I was there this summer.
