| A healthy dose of sand is applied to the rail during an emergency brake application. Sand prevents the locomotive wheels from sliding when a train goes into emergency at speed. However, there was no movement at the time this photograph was taken. The locomotive consist failed an air test and was placed into emergency to reset the air. |
