Many residents in the outer boroughs of New York City refer traveling to Manhattan as "going to the City." You can see why here.
At one of the edges of this metropolis, this is the view from the upper deck of the rebuilt (2005) Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue Station. Off in the distance "the City" can be seen while below are the subway cars that can take you there.
