A little cold weather shot for this morning: This is late November 1980 and Wise County has been dusted with some snow. Early in the morning, Extra 5048 East is on the Interstate Railroad main line at Blackwood, VA, passing the on-again, off-again load out operated in later years by Ring Brothers Coal. Is that a trailer aboard a TTX flat behind the power? Yes, it is! It's en route to Miller Yard and interchange to the Clinchfield. All those empty coal hoppers are destined for Norton, for later placement at various mines for loading by other crews.
