A SCENE THAT WILL NEVER REPEAT IT'S SELF Looking back to the summer of 2014, Over 90 years old, the Asheville, NC roundhouse built for Southern Railway in 1924 is still servicing locomotives daily. This has become quiet a rare sight as (at the time) there was only one other of it's kind in the state and only a hand full in the entire country. However, skipping ahead to present time, the number has gone down. The iconic structure has now been torn down, leaving only a small section for office space. The building was unsafe, according to the railroad. It's not hard to imagine that something that old would be falling apart. Though the roundhouse may be gone, it's legacy and historic mark in southern railroading will remain for years to come!
