When the narrow gauge Quincy & Torch Lake was abandoned, its locomotives were left inside the engine house at Hancock, Michigan. In the 1970s they were pulled outside for display near the Quincy Mine Hoist, where they still remain today in poor condition. This is Q&TL No. 1, an 1889 Brooks 2-6-0 named "Thos. F. Mason." A small group of volunteers is working to cosmetically restore the three remaining Q&TL locomotives that remain in Hancock.
