Private safari train operator Rovos Rail has purchased a number of former South African Railways class 5E1 3kV DC Bo-Bo electric locomotives, to work its trains in Gauteng province. On a beautiful summer afternoon, two of these spotlessly clean loco's, repainted in Rovos green livery, with a variation of the characteristic yellow S.A.R. striping, are seen working a Pretoria to Cape Town train, crossing the Sesmylspruit (Six Mile Creek) steel truss bridge south of Irene station.
