On borrowed time, CRI&P GP40 4703 is on the scrap line, at Little Rock, Arkansas. 6/0/-1984. In 1970, Union Pacific purchased 20 GP40's, 4700-4719, and leased them to the Rock Island. With in 8 years, most where already out of servive because of the Rock's defered maintenance and stored. When UP took the units back, the GP40's where so far gone, that they where scraped. 4703 was one of them.
