Remarks & Notes

They were known as "buffalo", due to their somewhat ungainly appearance. The Union railroad had a large fleet of Baldwin road switchers that they re-engined with EMD prime movers in the early 1960's. Not exactly resembling a Raymond Loewy design, the buffalo served the railroad for another 15 years. Here one idles at the Hall engine house near the end of its life.
