Still displaying its original road number from its days on the Southern Railway, Georgia Central U23B No. 3928 sits, coupled to Maryland Midland EMD GP9 No. 202 near downtown Savannah. According to online Diesel Shop locomotive roster, the GE U23B is now on the railroad's "retired" roster. If you pay close attention to the Georgia Central lettering, its Southern roots are barely visible. Both locomotives are two disguised predecessors of today's Norfolk Southern system. The Maryland Midland EMD GP9 is former Norfolk & Western No. 812.
