On President's Day, 2004, an unexpected overnight snow fall brought an unusual pattern of coverage in southwest Virginia and upper east Tennessee. Some of the higher elevations further north got virtually no snow, the lower elevations we plastered with a wet blanked that lingered long enough for a great series of shots. This is CSX 534 East at Clinchport--a loaded coal train from Loyall, KY to Erwin, TN. The old Southern Railway depot stood just to the right until the early '60s (this is NS trackage).
