To celebrate 150 years of railways in Queensland, Queensland Rail and the Queensland Government are running a number of steam train trips across the state. The first was from Brisbane to Cairns and Mareeba and return, operating earlier this year. The second trip was from Brisbane to Longreach and Winton and return, with the return run being an 'ANZAC Troop Train' run, coinciding with the 100 year anniversary of the ANZAC deployment of WW1. The train is seen here on it's run from Brisbane to Longreach, running in to the sunlight between Beerburrum and Beerwah, on the lower North Coast line. As the years go by, more and more steam engines are being restored and operating therefore the old expression "steam is dead" is nothing but a false expression. Steam is strong and still ruling the rails.
