Looks can be deceiving... While it appears that the crew on Santa Fe 3751 is preparing to depart Fullerton, in actuality the big Baldwin 4-8-4 is being towed backward by BNSF ES44C4 8357 (also running backward, or long-hood first) to Fullerton for display at the upcoming Fullerton Railroad Days (May 2nd and 3rd). While waiting for a clear signal on Main 2, a westbound intermodal freight heads to Los Angeles on Track 3. Meanwhile, the fire in the firebox on 3751 flickers in the darkness, and excess water drips from the injector overflow under the cab, while engineer Matt Casford and Alex Gillman (of the San Bernardino Railroad Historical Society, the group that owns 3751) peer down the mainline.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom seen beauty of railroads from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding sunset to sunrise surprises!)
