This photograph contains a little bit of aviation history - Look carefully at the overhead wiring poles, and you will notice they are painted with very faded red and white stripes. This section of the Werribee line once skirted the edge of the RAAF Williams Base airfield. Being quite close to the end of a runway, the stripes were added to improve visibility for approaching pilots. The airfield ceased operations in 1996, and today most of the land is being transformed into residential housing estates.
