| Amtrak R79 is seen heading southbound through Thomasville, NC at dusk passing the statue of John Thomas in downtown. This R79 was an extra section of Amtrak 79, the southbound "Carolinian". R79 was using an NCDOT trainset and was utilized between Raleigh and Charlotte due to the regular Amtrak train being so far behind schedule.
