GP9u as DPU? Not quite. About five weeks ago, CP 420 ran down from Winnipeg with two GP9u units (1585, 1633) right smack in the middle of the train. Both units were dropped off in Sudbury, however. This action was repeated though, and CP 8250 is seen here at the tail end of 420 as it winds the curves at Palgrave two weeks afterwards. At the head end is CP 8724, 8794, 8825, 8924, 5879. So why exactly is 8250 dead in tow at the end of the train? I couldn't tell ya. However, knowing the scarcity of CP GP9u's left, it was definitely good to see one. 8250 had started out from Winnipeg six days earlier, however the drawbar broke and it was replaced in Thunder Bay. That could explain it's position in the train, so in train forces could be dramatically reduced on the couplers to prevent that from happening again. 8250 has a bill of lading on its left side window, which likely paints a grim picture for it. After arriving in Agincourt yard later on this night, it has not moved since.
