Sparkee in her office. Although she's posing for the cameras this day as "Rosie the Riveter", Strasburg Rail Road employee Andrea B. is actually right at home in the cab of Strasburg's Canadian National Mogul #89. As with most Strasburg shop employees, she's fully qualified to run this engine in tourist service, and you will see her out on the line.
Nicknamed "Sparkee" by her colleagues, Andrea's primary role at the railroad is that of a trained machinist. She spends most of her days fabricating one-of-a-kind parts to support Strasburg's fleet of steam locomotives, as well as locomotives at other tourist railroads and museums across the country. She's also Strasburg's Assistant Contract Administrator, so if there's a restoration project going on at Strasburg, she's probably involved. And as if she can't get her fill of steam engines at work, Andrea and her husband own his-and-hers steam traction engines and they spend their weekends doing steam shows and other events.
So, this is one photo you don't need a charter to get. Ditch the bandana and the make-up and if you're at Strasburg on the right day, you could shoot this picture yourself.
