Remarks & Notes
The CR 4838 East's engineer lays on the horn for the multiple grade crossings in this area. The GG-1's single-chime Leslie A-200 horn was an impressive device, audible from great distances. I lived about 5 miles as the crow flies from the old PRR Main Line in the 1970s, and I can still remember standing in our back yard with my dad, listening to the GG-1s of the "Broadway Limited," the "National Limited," or the "Valley Forge" blowing for the two grade crossings east of Mount Joy. The 4838 was built by Baldwin/PRR/Westinghouse in July, 1935.
