Remarks & Notes
The 2-6-2+2-6-2 narrow gauge Garratt steamlocomotives NNG 16 # 138 and 87 ex South African Railways (SAR) and now runnning for the Welsh Highland Railway are pulling a long photo charter freight from Dinas to Rhyd Ddu. The gauge is 597 mm or 1 ft 10 3⁄4 in. # 138 (crimson livery) was built by Beyer-Peacock in 1958, # 87 (midnight blue livery) by Cockerill in 1937. The Garratts are running in "South African style" with a water tank car coupled between the two locomotives.
