Daylight at sunrise. SP 4449, and its short train, had departed Bakersfield, CA and led a predawn chase over the narrow roads below Tehachapi, before encountering full sun east of Monolith. This Lima 4-8-4 is among the favorite steam engines for Southern Pacific and west coast fan trips.
