Remarks & Notes
Late afternoon turn at Osier. While the patrons of the Friends Maintenance of Way Charter enjoy a late lunch in the distant Osier Dining Hall, the crew of the 463 has turned the train to face east, and watered and serviced their K-27 Locomotive. Just second after snapping the shutter, our engineer blew a series of whistles, calling everyone back to the train for departure back to Antonito. I wish we had been able to take a couple of run-by shots after departing Osier. The late afternoon/evening light was absolutely superb and the fall colors around Toltec Gorge were stunning.

The American west is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful regions in the country. Rails rolling through wide open spaces.

The Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad and the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad are all that remains of the legendary Denver & Rio Grande Western narrow gauge system. Here you'll find some of my favorites from these two beautiful railways.
