Two Norfolk Southern trains make a meet at "Midway" siding on the railroad's Brooklyn District, as part of the Illinois Division, on August 27, 2015. The NS 2696 is holding the main with northbound NS 32Q, originating at the Alton and Southern Gateway Yard in East St. Louis bound for Decatur, Ill., while the train rolling through the siding is southbound NS 181 that originates at Oakwood Yard near Detroit bound for Luther Yard in North St. Louis. The late-80s bracket signal mast and the searchlights were retired from service in March 2017.
