As BNSF Railway's California Division Christmas Train parallels historic Route 66 as it heads east through Oro Grande, in California's Mojave Desert, it encounters a westbound stack train, headed from Chicago IL to San Bernardino CA, powered by a trio of new ET44C4 diesels. This spot, known as East Oro Grande on the railroad, is near Victorville. The BNSF passenger extra, powered by two more ET44C4s - 3908 up front, and 3907 on the rear - is heading from Victorville to Barstow and return with a load of children who are entertained en route by chipmunks, clowns, magicians, elves and Santa and Mrs. Claus!
