Remarks & Notes

Raritan River Drawbridge - Many of the industries that once lined this river are now gone. One exception is seen here in the foreground where two barges are docked at property belonging to the Gerdau Ameristeel Steel Mill. Business has been thriving at this facility as the bulk of the steel for the Tappen Zee Bridge replacement project in NY state is being fabricated here. In addition to the barges this facility also receives rail service. Photo taken from the top of the Rt. 35 Victory Bridge.
