It's the first day of spring along Tehachapi Pass and the hills are green while a rain storm dumps water over the pass. Yet, this doesn't some trains from moving; only the dispatcher does! Which is what is happening here. UP 2010, the 100th anniversary of Boy Scouts of America unit, sits in the hole at Caliente to let a hot BNSF Z-Train pass through the single track section between Bealville and Caliente. UP 2010 is leading the Brooklyn, OR to Los Angeles, CA UPS train, the highest priority train on Union Pacific's I-5 Corridor. It usually goes over Tehachapi in the dead of night, but mechanical issues leaving Bakersfield resulted in a large set back.
