Remarks & Notes
An ice-jam on the Susquehanna River has the 4411 stopped in its tracks, waiting for the bulldozers ahead to clear the Port Road. Lake Clarke (the lake behind Safe Harbor Dam) has been turned into a moonscape of large chunks of ice from the freeze-thaw cycle during the late winter of 1977-78. The river bottlenecks at Turkey Hill, making Washington Boro susceptible to occasional ice-jams, which sometimes cause flooding.
