A well-travelled RS3 trails the Steamtown train as it drifts back to Scranton. Originally Boston & Maine 1508, the steam generator-equipped RS3 was sold to the D&H in 1975 to help out in passenger service. In the early 1980’s, now renumbered 4075, Steamtown acquired the unit to help out with its fledgling Pennsylvania operation. The RS3’s career was far from over. After spending the 1990’s in Western Maryland “fireball” paint on the Western Maryland Scenic, the itinerant Alco went to Michigan to operate on the Chesanning & Owasso Central. Today, renumbered back to 1508, the RS3 is at the Railroad Museum of New England.
